PUTTING BISHOP'S 44-POINT NIGHT IN PERSPECTIVE
PUTTING BISHOP'S 44-POINT NIGHT IN PERSPECTIVE
James Bishop IV's 44 points on Monday at Hofstra not only surpassed his previous career high of 30 set last January at Saint Louis, but was a GW A-10 era (since 1976) record. Bishop finished five points shy of the school record of 49 points, which has stood since Joe Holup hit the mark in 1956 against Furman, and was the most since Bob Tallent scored 46 vs. Pittsburgh on Jan. 11, 1969.
Bishop's outburst is the highest point total by anyone in Division I this season and the ninth-most ever scored by an A-10 player. The Baltimore native is now averaging 25.3 points per game, sixth-best in the country, and his 76 total points through three games are the 13th-most in the NCAA.
CENTER OF ATTENTION
Hunter Dean has been perfect to start the season, connecting on all 13 of his field goal attempts and all seven of his free throws. His 13 made field goals without a miss are the second-most in the country behind Milwaukee's Ahmad Rand (14-for-14).
Dean has posted double digits in each of the last two games, averaging 12.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg in 27.0 mpg vs. Howard and Hofstra. GW is 10-3 during Dean's career when he makes three field goals in a game, compared to 9-28 when he doesn't.
BA FINDING HIS STROKE
Graduate student Brendan Adams has started the season with three-straight games in double digits, extending his streak to five straight dating back to last season. Adams, who hit just 27% of 3s last year and was a career 27% 3-point shooter entering the year, is a sharp 8-of-17 (47%) to begin this season.
The UConn transfer has already hit at least three 3s in a game twice this season, something he did just four times last year. Additionally, Adams has matched his career bests in field goals made (6 at Hofstra) and 3-pointers made (4 vs. Virginia State).

A LOOK AT THE HAWKS
Maryland Eastern Shore is 1-2 on the season with a blowout win over Bryn Athyn and lopsided losses to Old Dominion and Charlotte. The Hawks were 11-16 in 2021-22, their most wins in a season since 2017. Their 6-8 MEAC record was also the best since that year.
Last season, the Hawks turned teams over on 23.8% of their possessions, the eight-best mark in the country. The rate has dropped to 17.2% this season. Zion Styles leads a balanced attack with 15.7 ppg, the lone player in double figures. Da'Shawn Phillip, who was a preseason All-Conference Second Team selection, is the lone other Hawk above 7.0 ppg, putting in 9.7 ppg.
