Gymnastics Finishes Third at UNC Quad Meet

Chambliss and Lynch set new personal bests on floor
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - George Washington gymnastics competed in its first road meet of the season on Saturday, finishing third in quad-meet action at North Carolina with a score of 194.825.
Missouri earned first overall with a 196.850, finishing ahead of host UNC who earned a 196.475. Brown rounded out the four-team field with a 190.975.
The Buff & Blue earned their 194.825 behind team scores of 48.950 on vault, 48.500 on bars, 48.625 on beam and 48.750 on floor.
Deja Chambliss placed first overall on floor with a career-high 9.925 and Payton Lynch set a new personal best with a 9.875 on the event.
ROTATION ONE
GW began the afternoon on bars led by Chambliss with a 9.750. Rachel Katz and Libby Garfoot earned a pair of 9.725s, and Olivia Raymond posted a 9.675. Simone Banen and Olivia Zona wrapped up the bars lineup with identical 9.625s.
ROTATION TWO
The Buff & Blue moved to beam for the second rotation. Sophomore Anneliese Silverman paced the squad on beam, finishing with a 9.800. Sarah Zois and Zona earned matching 9.725s, while Katherine Shek (9.675) and Chambliss (9.650) rounded out the beam lineup.
ROTATION THREE
GW took to floor for rotation three, with Chambliss and Lynch leading the way with their career-highs. Zona earned a 9.850, and Raymond posted a 9.775. Kendall Whitman registered a 9.325, and Marlee York posted a 9.100.
ROTATION FOUR
GW finished the day on vault with Whitman, Zois, Chambliss and Katz all earning 9.800s. York matched her score from last weekend's Lindsey Ferris Invitational with a 9.750.
UP NEXT
Next weekend, the Buff & Blue will head back to North Carolina, visiting EAGL foe NC State on Saturday for another quad meet with New Hampshire and William & Mary. March-outs from Raleigh, N.C. are slated for 4 p.m.
