Volleyball Hosts Dayton, Duquesne to Open A-10 Season

Buff & Blue to play pair of contests on Friday and Saturday
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball will begin its Atlantic 10 quest this weekend, hosting Dayton on Friday at 7 p.m. and Duquesne on Saturday at 5 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: GW went 0-3 at the Mountaineer Invitational last weekend, dropping matches to West Virginia, UMBC and Robert Morris.
FOR THE RECORD: Averaging 14 digs per match, Bella Bowman is well on pace to break into the program's all-time record book this weekend, needing 31 more digs to reach the milestone. The senior libero has totaled 154 digs across 11 matches this season, including a season-best 28 vs. Georgetown. Bowman's defensive efforts put her fourth overall in the conference.
LEADING THE WAY: First-year Salem Yohannes continues to be GW's top offensive threat. Yohannes has registered a team-leading 109 kills on the season and has led GW offensively in seven of the team's 11 matches this year. Yohannes sits at No. 8 in the conference, averaging 2.95 kills/set.
FREQUENT FLYERS: Dayton won the program's third consecutive A-10 Championship in the spring and made its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. This season, Dayton sits at 6-5 overall. The Flyers are led by Jamie Peterson, who earned back-to-back conference weekly honors after leading UD with 36 kills in the team's most recent pair of victories. Peterson leads the team and the conference with 160 kills this season.
DUELING WITH THE DUKES: Duquesne is 5-6 overall and will visit George Mason on Friday to open its conference slate. Junior setter Hailey Poling sits atop the conference rankings with 433 assists, averaging 9.84/set. Outsider hitter Morgan Kelly is second in the A-10 with 172 kills at 3.91/set.
