GW volleyball begins the fifth season under head coach Katie Reifert this weekend with three matches at the Classic City Clash in Athens, Ga. The Buff & Blue will face Furman on Friday at 1 p.m., the host Georgia at 7 p.m. Friday and then North Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m. Friday night's game will be available on SEC Network+.

BUILDING MOMENTUM
Headlined by eight returners, including All-Conference setter Abby Markworth, and nine newcomers consisting of five first-years and four transfer students, George Washington was picked fifth in the A10 preseason poll announced this week. Last season, the Buff & Blue finished second in the regular-season conference standings with a 12-6 A10 mark, their best finish since 2014, and reached 12 conference wins for the first time since 2000.

The Paladins were picked to finish third in the Southern Conference with middle blocker Tennyson Gorman named to the All-Conference preseason team. Furman returns 15 players from last year's team that went 21-9 and advanced to the conference semis.

The host Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the SEC preseason poll, exactly where they finished a year ago. Outside hitter Bianna Muoneke was named Preseason All-SEC and was an honorable mention All-American last season.

The Ospreys were picked fourth in the preseason ASUN poll and boast Sofia Dawson, who was named the Preseason Setter of the Year, and Kendall Newbold, who earned a spot on the Preseason All-ASUN team. UNF went 14-19 a year ago.Â
