Buff and Blue face host Crimson and Brown
GW men's water polo continues its difficult non-conference slate on Saturday, traveling to Harvard for a doubleheader at Blodgett Pool.
The Buff and Blue are set to face the host Crimson at 9 a.m., before meeting Brown at 2 p.m., in their final competition before starting Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play next week. Both games are set to broadcast via ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT:Â GW came up short in three tough tests last weekend at the Princeton Invitational, including matchups vs. both Harvard and Brown.
Andras Levai was honored as the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Player of the Week after leading the team in goals (10) and steals (six) over the three games. It was the fourth time that the graduate student from Budapest, Hungary, has won the award in his decorated career in Buff and Blue.
HELPING HAND:Â DJ Davis leads GW with 10 assists through six games.
The senior from Alamo, Calif., set a career high with four assists in the season-opening win over Iona on Sept. 4, and last weekend, he recorded multiple helpers vs. St. Francis Brooklyn and Brown.
Davis also has four goals on the season, putting him tied for third among the Buff and Blue with 14 points. He's tied for second on the club with five steals, as well.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION:Â Coming off three wins at the Princeton Invitational, Harvard is ranked No. 18 in the latest CWPA national poll. Goalkeeper Noah Hodge made 12 saves in the win vs. GW and was later named the Northeast Water Polo Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Brown sits at 6-3 after dropping two of three games at last weekend's tournament. Leo Berkman has a team-high 16 goals so far.
UP NEXT:Â GW opens its MAWPC slate next week with three games over as many days. The Buff and Blue visit Johns Hopkins on Friday before hosting Mount St. Mary's on Saturday and then traveling to Bucknell on Sunday.
