Buff and Blue face Tribe on Tuesday
GW men's soccer plays the first of four straight road games on Tuesday, visiting William & Mary in its final contest before Atlantic 10 play begins. It's a 7 p.m. kickoff at Martin Family Stadium.
LAST TIME: Last Friday, GW dropped a 1-0 decision to Navy on the Mount Vernon Campus. The Midshipmen took the lead in the 17th minute, and the Buff and Blue couldn't produce the equalizer, despite creating a series of quality chances down the stretch.
BATTLE-TESTED: Joshua Yurasits has started all five games this season as part of the GW defense and logged 397 minutes, most among the squad's field players. The graduate student from North Wales, Pa., has gone the distance in three straight contests, entering play Tuesday night.
Yurasits has been a staple of the Buff and Blue backline over the past five seasons with 56 career starts and 4,949 total minutes played.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: Ten different members of the Buff and Blue have recorded at least one point through five games.
Aaron Kronenberg and Tobias Williams joined the club during last week's 2-1 win over Liberty. Kronenberg became the fifth GW student-athlete to score a goal thanks to a header off a corner kick vs. the Flames, while Williams provided an assist on the play and became the sixth student-athlete to record a helper.
Heading into the contest at William & Mary, Oscar Haynes Brown is the team leader with six points via three goals.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE: William & Mary opened its season last Friday with a 3-0 win over St. Francis (Pa.). Nathan Messer put the Tribe in front in the 19th minute before Diba Nwegbo and Matt Thorsheim added to the lead after halftime.
UP NEXT: GW travels to Pittsburgh on Saturday evening to face Duquesne in the A-10 opener for both sides.
