Duo honored by CoSIDA for academic and athletic achievement
WASHINGTON -Â GW baseball student-athletes Steve Barmakian and Noah Levin were recognized by CoSIDA as First-Team Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced on Thursday.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. As a result of their selection, Barmakian and Levin are eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in late July.
Barmkaian returned to the program for 2021 after his 2020 senior season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After graduating with a 3.76 undergrad GPA, the Westfield, N.J., native posted a perfect 4.0 graduate GPA in Management Leadership. He was also named to the A-10 All-Academic Team earlier this season.
On the field, Barmakian started all 44 games at third base, leading the team in doubles and stolen bases while finishing as the toughest player in the A-10 to strike out. He posted a .331/.423/.446 slash line and set a new career-high with 14 doubles to go along with career-bests in SLG and OBP.
Levin continues to rack up the awards after being named the team MVP, First Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Academic. The Tarzana, Calif., native owns a 3.77 GPA while pursuing his degree in Finance.Â
Levin started all 44 games at second base for GW, slashing .333/.404/.519 with a team-high six home runs among 54 hits. He topped the team with 16 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games, while ranking fifth in the A-10 in RBI/game (1.07) and eighth overall with 47.
