Double-digit performer from Purdue Fort Wayne joins GW
WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball head coach Caroline McCombs announced the addition of Sierra Bell as a graduate transfer from Purdue Fort Wayne. Bell joins four additional transfers and three first-year student-athletes as newcomers to the program.
"We are very excited to add Sierra Bell to our team for this upcoming season," McCombs said. "We feel like she will fit in well with this group and help us continue to establish our culture at GW. At the guard position, she is a proven leader with experience, which will be very valuable for our team. She also has the ability to score, as well as get her teammates involved."
Bell played in 23 games, starting 22 for the Mastodons last season and averaged 10.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 2.0 apg in 26.4 mpg. The Danville, Ill., native reached double figures in 15 games, including a seven-game stretch from Jan. 30 to Feb. 20 that included a double-double of 11 points and career-high 13 rebounds at Cleveland State.
Bell missed the 2019-20 season due to injury, but appeared in 21 games for Purdue Fort Wayne during the 2018-19 season, providing 6.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 2.5 apg in 16.9 mpg off the bench. She began her career at Northeast CC in Norfolk, Neb., where she earned First Team All-Region honors as a sophomore.
