Colonials complete season sweep of Hoyas
ARLINGTON, VA. - GW baseball wrapped up its home slate with a dominating 15-4 victory over rival Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon. The win gave the Buff & Blue the season sweep over the rival Hoyas and an 18-11 record at the Tuck this season.
The Colonials drew an astounding 17 walks in the game in addition to getting on base via nine hits, two hit batters and three Hoya errors. GW scored in seven of its eight at-bats and took a 10-0 lead through three innings.
Noah Levin started the festivities with a line drive two-run homer in the last of the first, his team-leading fifth long ball of the year. Derek Ripp added an RBI single three batters later to make it 3-0.
In the second, Levin forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk before Domenic Boselli dropped in a two-run double inside the right field line. Tyler Hix pulled a two-run single through the left side to cap off the six-run rally, making it 9-0.
Steve Barmakian, as part of a three-hit day, notched an RBI single in the third inning to make it 10-0. Hix, Boselli and Levin drove in three runs apiece while Ripp also notched a multi-hit games. In total, all 11 Colonial hitters drew at least one walk, while eight different players scored a run and eight drove in at least one run.
On the mound, Keagan McGinnis was the star in relief by striking out a career-high eight batters in three innings, including three straight to strand two runners in the sixth inning. McGinnis was credited with his third win of the season.
The Buff & Blue now turn their attention to a crucial four-game series at Dayton starting on Thursday. First pitch in the opener against the Flyers is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
