ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The GW sailing team competed in its fourth regatta of the season over the weekend, traveling to Navy with St. Mary's and Old Dominion.
In Saturday's fleet racing GW placed fourth and seventh overall. Colonials 2, the fourth place finisher, featured Soenke Jordan crewed by Ruby Gordon, and Michael Ehnot crewed by Sydney Register. In women's racing, Chiara Perotti Correa and Allison Forsyth finished ninth in A Division for Colonials 1.
"Chiara and Allison looked particularly strong," Head Coach Billy Martin said. "We'll be counting on them to lead us next weekend at the MAISA Women's National Qualifiers at St. Mary's."
"Senior captain, Soenke Jordan, and crew Ruby Gordon, sailed really disciplined and smart and showed good boat handling as well," said Martin. "They'll be confident going into our MAISA Coed National Qualifier on Sunday."
In Sunday's team racing, GW's 3-2 and 1-4 record earned the teams No. 3 and No. 5 overall.
"From this point on, the level of competition is raised," said Martin. "It's time for us to reset and be ready to turn things up a notch over the next couple of weeks. We have players stepping up into new positions this semester who I know will deliver when it counts," said Martin.
