Lange, Williams Honored by A-10

Softball takes two weekly awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sierra Lange and Alexa Williams of GW softball have picked up Atlantic 10 weekly awards for their play in last weekend's four-game sweep of Saint Louis.
Lange received her second straight A-10 Pitcher of the Week award, while Williams was honored as the conference's Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Last weekend, Lange went 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 12 innings over three starts vs. the Billikens. The redshirt junior hurler was dominant in the series opener, matching a season high with 10 Ks while allowing one run on three hits over five innings in a 9-1 victory. She also tossed a five-inning complete game in the series finale, ceding one run on just two hits with five Ks over five strong frames.
In addition to her strong work in the circle, Lange posted a .364/.462/.636 slash line at the plate with a home run, three RBIs and six runs scored, plus four stolen bases in the series.
It was the fourth career A-10 Pitcher of the Week honor for Lange, who is now 9-5 with a 1.97 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 78 innings on the season.
Williams tallied hits in all four games last weekend, finishing with a .500/.585/.900 slash line with seven RBIs and five runs scored. Three of her five hits went for extra bases with a triple and two doubles.Â
The first-year from El Cajon, Calif., had a pair of hits, knocked in three runs and scored twice in Saturday's series-opening 9-1 victory. The next day, she had a two-run double in the second game of the series and a two-run triple in the opener as part of a 15-0 victory in five innings.
Williams was also honored on March 9 with the season-opening rookie award following a strong weekend vs. Mount St. Mary's. She ranks second on the club with 24 RBIs while slashing .365/.394/.619.
