Old Dominion hosted the multi-conference regatta
NORFOLK, Va. - The GW sailing team earned a first-place finish at the Aaron Szambecki team race hosted by Old Dominion. Jacksonville and St. Mary's were the two other programs competing.Â
The Buff and Blue's first team finished with a 7-2 record to earn first, while GW's second team earned seventh overall with its 2-7 record.Â
GW's first team was led by Matt Logue/Taylor Milefchik, Matt Priebe/Megan Mansfield and Soenke Jordan/Ruby Gordon.Â
"It was great to get the win at this year's Aaron Szambecki Team Race," Head Coach Billy Martin said. "We struggled off the starting line but managed to bring multiple races back under our control and convert into wins."Â
"When teams find a way to win despite making mistakes, some call it luck, but I think it's a sign of a good team that doesn't give up and is prepared to overcome adversity," said Martin.Â
