WASHINGTON - GW baseball is set to host a pair of mid-week games at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park, entertaining Virginia on Tuesday and Navy on Wednesday. First pitch for both games is set for 3 p.m. with streaming coverage available on ESPN+.
OVER THE WEEKEND: The Buff & Blue pummeled Delaware State in a three-game series, outscoring the Hornets, 32-4. GW's pitching staff posted a 1.50 ERA while the defense did not commit an error in any of the games. Offensively, the Colonials hit .406 as a team, led by sophomore Steve DiTomaso (.600) and first-year Eddie Micheletti (.500). GW is now 14th in the nation with a .305 team batting average.
PICKING UP THE PACE: DiTomaso's strong weekend marked the continuation of a hot streak for the sophomore that has seen him raise his batting average from .105 to .375 in just six games. DiTomaso is 13 for his last 21 (.619) over the last two weekends with four multi-hit games, including a pair of perfect 3-for-3 days. As a result, he has moved up to fourth in the league in hitting.
HE JUST KEEPS HITTING: Steve Barmakian has hit safely in all but one game this season and extended his hitting streak to 13 games on Sunday, matching his career long set in 2018. Barmakian is the only Colonial to reach base safely in all 16 games and has registered nine multi-hit games already this season. As a result, the graduate student is up to second in the A-10 in hitting (.413) and OBP (.493), while leading the league with 1.62 hits per game.
ABOUT THE CAVALIERS: GW and UVA meet for the second time this year after the then-No. 8 Cavaliers earned an 11-1 win on March 2 in Charlottesville. The Wahoos have struggled since, going 4-11 in ACC play and sitting at 10-13 overall after dropping two of three to #19 Miami over the weekend. UVA has the second-best staff ERA in the ACC at 3.56, but has struggled at the dish with a .220 team batting average.
GW is 5-20 against Virginia all-time and is hosting the Cavaliers for the first time since March 7, 2017.
ABOUT THE MIDSHIPMEN: Navy returned from a month-long pause this past weekend, taking two of three from Bucknell in their Patriot League opener to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Midshipmen possess the top batting average in the league at .309, good for 11th nationally. On the mound, Navy posts a 5.91 team ERA, second-best in the Patriot League behind Lehigh, whom the Colonials swept earlier this year.
The Colonials and Midshipmen have not met since 2013, a 5-2 GW victory in head coach Gregg Ritchie's first season. The Buff & Blue are 15-21 all-time against the Blue and Gold.

Feb. 9, 2021 marked the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Congress' establishment of The George Washington University's charter. GW Athletics is proud to be part of the university's bicentennial celebration, honoring the historic milestone with a variety of initiatives meant to highlight the best of the Buff and Blue. Greg Conden is one of the top pitchers in GW history, earning A-10 Pitcher of the Year and A-10 Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in 2000. Conden holds all-time GW records with 35 victories and 62 games started as a pitcher, while ranking third all-time with 286 strikeouts. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 2003 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres and went on to play five seasons of professional baseball.
