Baseball Falls in Season Opener

Barmakian, Levin pick up where they left off
The Cavaliers jumped out in front thanks to two errors and two walks in the bottom of the first inning, and scored runs in six of their eight at-bats against seven different Colonial pitchers.
Junior Justin Solt earned the start and struck out two in one inning of work. Redshirt sophomore Jack Horn also made his Buff & Blue debut on the bump, striking out one in 1.1 innings of relief.
Offensively, GW got on the board via a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning from senior Domenic Boselli scoring graduate student Steve Barmakian, who had singled earlier in the frame and moved to third on a double from junior Noah Levin.
Barmakian and Levin collected a pair of hits each as part of GW's seven-hit attack.
The Buff & Blue now turn their attention to the home opener at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park this Saturday, welcoming Lehigh for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one, a nine-inning contest, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. followed by a seven-inning affair.
