DAVIDSON, N.C. – GW volleyball began its road conference slate on Friday, falling to Davidson in straight sets, 19-25, 18-25, 19-25.
Liv Womble led GW offensively with eight kills, while Sarah Pintel and Salem Yohannes added seven and five, respectively.
The home team pulled away early in set one to take an 8-3 advantage. A late GW rally sparked by kills from Womble and Pintel would not be enough as the Wildcats put down nine kills in the back half of the opening set to take the 1-0 match advantage.
The Buff & Blue controlled the opening stages of set two thanks to three kills, an ace and six Davidson errors. The Wildcats then rattled off nine straight points to regain control of the match at 18-11 and ultimately took the two-set advantage.
Set three started with another GW surge, powered by back-to-back kills from Elizabeth Drelling and one apiece from Womble and Pintel. Davidson then put together an eight-point scoring run, letting its lengthy run set the tone to put the match away.
UP NEXT: GW will visit VCU on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start from the Siegel Center.
