The Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association announced the 2019-20 All-Conference Teams with three student-athletes from George Washington receiving honors.
Â
The Colonials were led by All-MAISA Second Team skipper senior Aitana Mendiguren, while senior Sarah Noyes and sophomore Ana Carrasco Solla were named All-MAISA crews.
Â
"This reflects the hard work and overall level of our entire team," said head coach Billy Martin. "These are team victories because individuals don't get results; it takes a team to get results. I'm grateful that these three understand this more than anyone on our team, which makes them humble leaders, fierce competitors, selfless team contributors and perfect role models to the underclassmen on this team."
Â
Mendiguren and Noyes worked together throughout the fall season and had their best performance when they won the Susan Rogers '75 Memorial in September at Cornell. The duo held off the host Big Red in a tight compettion (41-44). At the MAISA Women's Fall Dinghy Championship, Mendiguren and Noyes finished in sixth place, just four points behind Old Dominion, who placed fifth.
Â
As GW's top coed crew member, Carrasco Solla competed in four fall regattas. At the Coed Showcase Tournament, she helped her tandem to a fourth-place finish with 87 points.
Â
In the shortened spring season, Noyes and Carrasco Solla helped the Colonials to a third-place finish at the GW Team Race in February.
