To our Buff & Blue family and friends, I wanted all to know that though we are heartbroken about the loss of the season. We are a united and a strong family. These are difficult times for everyone to process, but what has never wavered is the safety and care for our young men and for all others. We are truly heartbroken for all that have had loss and are suffering from this virus enemy that has robbed so many things from so many people. Â
This is a moment that no one has ever experienced before and is particularly tough on our seniors. Our student-athletes are handling it like champions and are displaying the elite character that is expected of the Buff & Blue. Our top priority is all remaining safe and healthy. This team, our athletic department, and our university, though disappointed by these events, are shifting our determination to defeat this virus by adhering to social distancing, frequently washing our hands, wearing gloves when having to be out and simply staying home. What each individual on this team knows is to control their collective attitude, outlook and actions, and this is just what we will do to come out of this as stronger Colonials and a stronger world!
The staff and I join the student-athletes in their sadness, knowing that our season had only just begun and our staff was excited to see this young, talented and exciting team improve throughout the year. Despite our season being cut short, I look back fondly at how far this group of young men have come since our first practice in the fall. You could feel a special bond being shaped; and see an elite pitching staff in their performance; and a young talented group of defenders and hitters learning rapidly. This was truly a special team.Â
That being said, our work never stops as mentors and coaches to continue to motivate and aid these young men in this difficult time. I look forward to remaining in touch and continuing our off-the-field efforts to finish the semester strong. We are working to continue exceptional development of these young men both in the classroom and with their athletic abilities, to come back stronger and ready to win an A-10 Championship. A total display of discipline, excellence and love is what our men are made of. I am incredibly optimistic about our program and excited to get back on the field with our team as soon as it is safe.
Until then, our thoughts and prayers are with all to remain safe and healthy. We'll see you again soon at "The Tuck" for many Ws!
Raise High,
