A Message from GW Softball Head Coach Shane Winkler

"These are challenging and unprecedented times that we are all fighting through. Often as coaches and players we get ultra focused on what is happening on the playing field, but this is much bigger than sports. Although we are saddened to not get to finish our season competing for what we worked so hard for, we understand the importance of social distancing. We all have a responsibility to do what we can to slow the spread of this virus, so we can begin our comeback as an entire country.
My heart breaks for our seniors who didn't get to finish their careers on the field. They have done so much, on and off the field, to lift our program to new heights, and they all have bright futures ahead.
We are excited to continue moving our program forward and hope to bring back some of these familiar senior faces when the time is right to get back to competing for championships on the field.
We thank everyone for their support of GW Athletics and our softball program. The time will come soon for us to all be back doing what we do best. In the meantime, we ask that you all do your part in keeping your family and loved ones safe and healthy."
