4/12/2026 2:36:00 PM | Softball
GW softball shut down Saint Joseph's in Sunday's series finale at the GW Softball Field, beating the Hawks by a final of 4-0. GW improved to 18-15 overall and 8-7 in A-10 play.
Cece Smith headlined the win as she was dominant in the circle for her seventh win of 2026. Smith struck out six Hawks and only allowed two hits on Sunday as the junior from Atlanta frustrated batters all afternoon.
GW grabbed an early lead with a three-run first with RBI from Sydney Hogue, Cadence Gilliland and Emma Fales. Paige Hayward added GW's fourth run of the day with a single off the center-field wall which scored Kaite Hendrickson from second.
The Revolutionaries earned their third home A-10 series win in as many tries this season. GW has nine league games remaining, with away series at Loyola Chicago and St. Bonaventure, and a home series vs. Rhode Island.
GW hosts UMES for a midweek 2K-themed game on Wednesday (3:00 p.m.) at the GW Softball Field, then travels to Chicago for its next conference series at Loyola Chicago on Saturday (1:00 p.m. ET doubleheader) and Sunday (1:00 p.m. ET).
