Colonials top the field at UC Davis with a season-high 194.350

DAVIS, Calif. – In its first of two trips out West this season, the George Washington gymnastics team shone under the bright lights of UC Davis' ARC Pavilion, topping the field with a season-high score of 194.350.
The Colonials earned their season-high 194.350 behind team scores of 48.750 on vault, 48.425 on bars, 48.450 on beam and a season-best 48.725 on floor. GW finished steadily ahead of the host Aggies, who came in second with a 192.975. Sacramento State took third with 192.675, while Alaska finished fourth with 189.600.
ROTATION ONE
The Colonials started their night off on beam, posting a score of 48.450. Senior co-captain Cydney Crasa led the way, matching her career-high score of 9.800 to kick off her night. Junior Katya Karpova also put together a beautiful beam routine with a 9.750, while Olivia Raymond added a 9.700. The sophomore duo of Olivia Zona and Simone Banen earned matching 9.600s to wrap up rotation one.
ROTATION TWO
The Buff and Blue then moved on to floor, where they turned up the heat with a season-high 48.725. Crasa continued her momentum into rotation two, posting a season-high 9.825 to finish in a tie for second. Rachel Kaplan followed closely behind with a season-high 9.775 of her own to place fourth, while Anna Warhol earned a 9.750 in her floor debut. Karpova added a 9.725, and Raymond finished with a season-high 9.650 to contribute to the Colonials' season-best performance on floor.
ROTATION THREE
GW took to vault for rotation three, finishing with a score of 48.750. Crasa rounded out her night by topping the team in her third straight event, notching a 9.825 to finish at the top of the podium. The junior pair of Chloe Vitoff and Olivia Norman posted identical 9.775s to finish in a tie for second, while Deja Chambliss added a 9.725. In her collegiate debut, Katherine Shek added to GW's total with a 9.650.
ROTATION FOUR
The Colonials capped their night on uneven bars, earning a 48.425. Banen and Karpova paced the squad with matching scores of 9.750 to finish in a tie for fifth, while Chambliss followed closely behind with a 9.725. Olivia Raymond added a 9.675, and Warhol finished with a 9.525 to wrap up the Colonials' night in California.
NEXT UP: Following their meet at UC Davis on Friday, the Colonials will return to the Charles E. Smith Center on Friday, January 31 to host West Virginia, William & Mary and Pittsburgh for their Pink Meet. Prior to march-outs at 7 p.m., GW will host "Sip and Flip," a wine tasting with light hors d'oeuvres inside the Tin Tabernacle Club. The cost is $15 and includes the single-meet ticket along with an open bar with a selection of wines from Francis Ford Coppola Winery for fans of age.
