Colonials look for first win of 2019
KICKING OFF: The George Washington women's soccer team will look to notch its first victory of the 2019 season on Wednesday when it makes the short crosstown trip to face local foe American at 5 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: On a stormy Thursday evening in Williamsburg, Va., the Colonials fell to William & Mary, 2-0, in their season opener. GW tallied 13 shots on the day, but could not find the back of the net as two second half goals by the Tribe made the difference.
TRUST IN TRANSFERS: The transfer quartet of Rachel Sorkenn (Miami), Sammy Neyman (Miami), Anyssa Ibrahim (USF) and Tamaki Machi (Kentucky) all started in their Buff and Blue debuts in Williamsburg. Sorkenn ranked second on the squad with two shots on the night, while Neyman and Ibrahim registered one apiece.

SHOOTING SURGE: Despite falling to the Tribe, the Colonials held a 13-9 advantage in shots on Thursday, with eight of their chances coming in the game's second half. Co-captain Kelly Amador led the squad with four shots on the night, three of which came on goal.
ABOUT AMERICAN: The Eagles ride into their second week of the season on a two-match win streak, defeating UNC Asheville, 2-0, on Friday before edging USC Upstate on Sunday, 2-1.
