Following a pair of draws last week, the George Washington women's soccer team heads north to Philly to battle Penn on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. Live coverage of the matchup will be carried on ESPN+.
After a scoreless draw on Wednesday at Howard and a scoreless first half on Sunday at Towson, the floodgates opened in the second half against the Tigers, with both teams combining for four goals. Towson scored first, finding the net in less than a minute of action after halftime, but GW's Ella Provost-Herron tallied the equalizer less than three minutes later off assists from Sophia Broz and Ariana Gronauer.
After Towson took the lead in the 70th minute, it looked as though GW wouldn't be able to catch up as the waning minutes ticked away. An initial shot from Naomi Kim ricocheted off the Towson goalkeeper and found the foot of Julia Bilal, who slotted it into the net and tied the game at two with less than two minutes to play. Neither team capitalized on a few chances in the closing minutes, resulting in GW's second consecutive draw.

Penn enters Thursday's match still seeking its first goal of the 2026 season. The Quakers fell to George Mason in their season opener, 1-0, on Aug. 20, then followed it up with a scoreless draw against FDU on Aug. 23. Thursday's meeting will be the second matchup between the programs all-time, with Penn securing a win over GW during the 2021 season.
Megan Graves has been stout as Penn's goalkeeper thus far, allowing just one goal on seven chances. She's tallied six saves and holds a .857 save percentage thus far. No player on offense has tallied more than two shots on the season, including Abbey Cook, who led the program in offense a year ago. She returns for her senior year after posting six goals and one assist as a junior in 2025. Penn's 2026 stats can be found here.
