
Pieczynski Named Assistant Golf Coach

WASHINGTON – Greg Pieczynski has been hired as an assistant coach for the GW golf program, head coach Chuck Scheinost announced Friday.

Pieczynski joins GW after a three-year stint as Director of Instruction at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Md., and has also coached collegiately having served as an assistant for the Assumption College golf team for two seasons. He has an extensive playing history, having won 25 tournaments over a nine-year professional career.

"We are very excited to have Greg join our program," said Scheinost. "He brings a wealth of experience both as a player, having won 25 professional tournaments, and a coach. He has a tremendous work ethic and will be able to help our student-athletes achieve new heights on and off the course."

A member of the PGA of America and US Kids Golf Certified Instructor, Pieczynski also had a stint as an Assistant PGA Professional at The Weston Golf Club in Weston, Mass. Over the course of his career as an instructor, he's run a variety of clinics, tournaments and camps.

"I'm excited to join such a prestigious university and a golf program that is one the rise in the Atlantic 10 Conference," said Pieczynski. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help the team get to the next level."

Pieczynski played golf collegiately at Penn State University, where he was a captain, two-time Academic All-American and two-time NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection. He graduated in 2006 with a finance degree.
