Eichenlaub and Gonzalez Named Co-GW Student-Athletes of the Week

After leading George Washington to its first team event win in seven years, Evan Eichenlaub and Patricio Gonzalez have been named co-GW Student-Athletes of the Week. The duo fired dueling 1-under 212s to finish in a tie for fourth over the weekend, one shot off the individual title.Â
Eichenlaub, a senior from Bethlehem, Pa., opened the tournament with a 1-over 72 before three of his final seven holes in the second round to card a 1-under 70 to move to even for the tournament. On Sunday, he posted two birdies in the first six holes to move to 2-under before finishing with another 1-under 70 to secure his second career top-five finish with GW.
In just his second tournament donning the Buff & Blue, Gonzalez bounced back from an opening 73 to post a 3-under 68 in the second round courtesy of three birdies in his last five holes. He then posted back-to-back birdies to set the tone on Sunday and finished with an even-par 71 to tie for fourth. The result is his best career finish after transferring over from Baylor in the middle of last season.
GW is off from competition until the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational on October 5-6 in Farmington, Pa.
