GW slugger adds another honor after record-breaking season
DANBURY, Conn. - Jenna Cone of George Washington softball added another honor to her impressive haul Thursday, earning a spot on the All-ECAC First Team.
This spring, Cone became the first Colonial to be named Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Year in recognition of a spectacular junior season. The third baseman helped the Buff and Blue claim a share of their first conference title and postseason berth by posting a .381/.490/.783 slash line with 20 home runs to tie the A-10 record and a program-record 67 RBIs.
Cone led the A-10 in homers, RBIs, total bases (148), on-base percentage and slugging percentage and ranked among the top 60 nationally in all five categories. The California native posted 20 multi-RBI performances, highlighted by a five-RBI effort in a home win over Oakland on March 15. Her 34 extra-base hits also established a new program record.
Cone continued to produce on GW's historic run at the conference tournament, earning a spot on the All-Championship Team after posting a team-high .588 on-base percentage with a home run and three RBIs over four games.
In addition to her A-10 honors, Cone was previously selected to the NFCA All Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team and will be considered for All-America honors by that group. She'll enter her senior season as the program's all-time leader in home runs (50), RBIs (187) and total bases (384).
