Women’s Tennis to Honor Seniors on Friday

Colonials to wrap regular season against George Mason
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis team will conclude its regular season on Friday when it hosts George Mason at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center for Senior Day at 1p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials went 1-1 in their final road trip of the regular season, downing Davidson, 5-2, on Saturday before being edged by Elon, 4-3, on Sunday.
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: The Colonials will honor Sara Grubac, Victoria Kogan and Maria Siopacha in a Senior Day ceremony at 12:45 p.m. before their match against George Mason.
Sara Grubac has made a lasting impact both on the court and in the classroom. She has contributed 43 singles victories and twice earned A-10 All-Conference Second Team recognition and A-10 Co-Player of the week honors. She has excelled academically, appearing six times on the Athletic Department Dean's List and five times each on the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences Dean's List and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Sara has also twice been selected as an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar and ITA Scholar Athlete.
Victoria Kogan has seen great success in her four years playing for the Buff and Blue, tallying 26 career singles victories. Against UMass this season, she earned the match-clinching victory for GW in singles, and last season, she reached the B flight doubles final at the Blue and Gold Invitational. The Columbia, Md., native has been a three-year member of Leadership Academy and is a 2018-19 SAAC representative. A biomedical engineering major, she is also a seven-time Athletic Department Dean's List honoree and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, and has been named an ITA Scholar Athlete three times.
Maria Siopacha has been a standout player for the Colonials, competing mainly at the No.1 singles and doubles positions for the last two seasons while earning Team MVP honors. In her three seasons in the Buff and Blue, she has notched 45 singles victories. Maria has twice been named A-10 Player of the Week and to the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Last season, she was also named the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Player. In 2018, she was awarded All-America honors and became one of 32 players to qualify for the 2018 ITA Oracle Masters. Off the court, Maria has been a three-year member of the Leadership Academy and was a 2017-18 SAAC representative. The Limassol, Cyprus, native is also a five-time Athletic Department Dean's List member, a four-time A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and an A-10 All-Academic Team honoree.

ON THE HORIZON: Following their match with the Patriots, the Colonials will await seeding in preparation for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship beginning on Wednesday in Orlando, Florida.
