Golf Finishes Play at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – The GW golf team wrapped up its first stroke play tournament of the spring season on Tuesday at the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Country Club.

Logan Lowe was the top individual finisher for the Colonials, who last week won the Atlantic 10 Match Play Championship in Weston Hills, Florida. Lowe finished tied for 48th with an 11-over par 227 after rounds of 76, 75 and 76. First-year Luis Alfonso Preciado ended the tournament on a positive note with a 3-under par 69 to finish 52nd. Â

Southern California, the seventh-ranked team in the country, topped a strong field which included three teams in the top-25 and eight in the top-65 of Golfstat.com's national rankings. The Trojans finished with a 4-under 860, just one shot clear of No. 16 California (3-under 859). Justin Suh of USC shot 68 in all three rounds to finish 12-under and win individual medalist honors.

UP NEXT: The Colonials have a two-week break before returning to action at the Bash at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C., March 11-12. The last time GW participated in the tournament in 2017, Lowe claimed the first championship of his collegiate career by shooting a 2-under par 69 in the final round while the Colonials took a second-place finish as a team.
