Women’s Tennis Back in Action at Navy

SERVING FIRST: After back-to-back wins to open play in February, the George Washington women's tennis team returns to action this Saturday at 2 p.m. when it makes the short trip to Annapolis, Md., to take on Navy.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials completed a perfect weekend to kick off dual-match play in February, posting victories against local foes Howard, 6-0, and Maryland, 6-1.
A-10 HONORS: Senior Sara Grubac was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week on February 6 after helping the Colonials top Maryland on Feb. 3. The Belgrade, Serbia, native first helped GW take the doubles point by partnering with Katarina Marinkovikj for a 6-2 win the No. 2 spot before topping Maryland's Millie Stretton in singles action with her 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 comeback victory. The senior was one of four Colonials to finish the weekend without dropping a match.
ABOUT NAVY: The Midshipmen sit 8-3 on the season and enter the weekend riding a five-match win streak. Navy will first face Howard on Saturday morning before hosting the Colonials in the afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY: GW has topped Navy in four of the last five meetings between the two squads. The Colonials last faced Navy in the 2016-17 season, defeating the Midshipmen 5-2.
ON DECK: Following their match at Navy, the Colonials will welcome Drexel to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) on Feb. 22 at 11:45 a.m. GW will then travel to William & Mary to face the Tribe on Sunday at 2 p.m.
