GW Men's Basketball Host Unbeaten Delaware For Holiday Hoopla

GEORGE AND THE DELAWARE: Delaware enters the Smith Center as one of 16 undefeated teams in college basketball. The Colonials are looking to snap the Blue Hens' nine-game winning streak and get back to .500 for the first time since being 1-1 after the season's first two games.
LAST TIME OUT: Junior Javier Langarica grabbed a rebound with 0.2 seconds remaining on the clock and scored the game-winning bucket as the red light turned on to give GW a 64-63 win over Boston University on Wednesday. Jameer Nelson Jr. had a team-best 17 points in the win.
ABOUT DELAWARE: Head coach Martin Ingelsby has his club playing a high level of basketball, winning a program-best nine-straight to open the season. Led by Nate Darling and Ryan Allen, the Blue Hens are receiving votes in this week's AP national poll. Darling, a transfer from UAB, leads the team in scoring at 22.5 points per game and nearly hit the 40-point mark with 37 points against UTSA in Kissimmee, Fla. Allen, a local DMV product, is second in scoring at 14.9 points per game and had 20 points in Monday's win over Columbia. Another transfer that the Blue Hens are leaning heavily on is Justyn Mutts, who is at 15.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game at power forward. The High Point transfer and New Jersey product dropped 24 points on Columbia. Mutts has made an impact inside the perimeter (51.0%) and at the free throw line (84.6%).
SERIES HISTORY: GW and Delaware are renewing a series that last played in 1997. The Colonials hold a 7-4 edge over the Blue Hens, having won all five games in D.C. Before the 1997 contest, these teams hadn't met since 1976. The Colonials have won the last four meetings.
I'M, BACK...BACK IN THE LINEUP GROVE: Jameer Nelson Jr. and Arnaldo Toro returned to the starting lineup for the Colonials on Wednesday and sparked both sides of the court. Nelson, who came off the bench last Sunday at South Carolina, finished with a season-best 17 points. Toro, who missed the previous four games due to an injury, saw limited time due to picking up early fouls, but had a pair of points and two rebounds.
WELCOME TO D1 BALL: First-year Chase Paar saw his first action after missing the opening eight games with an injury. Paar played four minutes on the court, but will be a significant contributor when conference play starts in less than a month.
SHOTS OF JAMO: Rookie Jamison Battle is currently 8th nationally in total 3-point field goals made with 31 and 26th in total 3-point attempts with 71. Battle set a season-best 18 points and hit six 3-pointers against South Carolina. Prior to that, the long-distance shooter had quite the weekend in the Bahamas shooting 10-of-14 from the outside, which earned him an Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Week award for his contributions. Battle averaged 12 points and eight rebounds over the three-game trip. He is second on the team in scoring (11.9) and first among active players at 43.7% from the outside. The first-year is tied for second among freshmen in the country in three-pointers per game, averaging 3.4 made threes per contest. Battle is tied with Landers Nolley II from Virginia Tech. Dru Kuxhausen from McNeese State leads the pack of first year shooters by knocking down 4.4 triples per contest.

BENCH MOB: The Colonial bench has been a bright addition to Coach Christian's arsenal as the reserves have combined to averaged 17.9 points per game and contributed double figures in eight of nine contests.
OOH OOH, MR. POTTER: Over the past five games, Armel Potter has turned into a savvy veteran leader with his play on the court. Potter scored 20+ points in all three games in the Bahamas and then added 22 points against South Carolina. In the previous game against Boston University, Potter netted 17 points. Potter had his GW single-game best with 25 points against Evansville. In 96 career games, Potter has reached double figures 54 times and scored 20 or more points 16 times, with four of his five GW occasions happening this season. Potter did damage at the free throw line during the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase, connecting on 25-of-31 (80.6%). His 12 made free throws against Milwaukee is a career-best for the Long Island guard. In three starts this season, Potter is averaging 38.7 minutes, 19.7 points, 5.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
