Arzoni, Cho and Kawakami were double winners Saturday
WASHINGTON - Dylan Arzoni, Andrew Cho and Tyler Kawakami won two individual events apiece Saturday to help GW men's swimming and diving secure a 143-61 win over Howard at Burr Gym Pool.
The Colonials claimed 11 of 12 events with Arzoni (200 IM, 100 fly), Cho (50 free, 100 back) and Kawakami (100 free, 100 breast) leading the way. All three were also part of a win in the meet-opening 200 medley relay.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Arzoni touched in 1:57.14 to take the 200 IM and followed up by taking the 100 fly in 52.39 seconds. The sophomore from England teamed with Cho, Kawakami and Youssef Ragab to win the 200 medley relay in 1:35.46. He also combined with Cho, Josh Legge and Sebbie Borden to win the 400 free relay (3:10.72).
- Cho continued his backstroke dominance with a win in the 100 back (:51.15) and also added a first-place finish in the 50 free (:21.67).
- A first-year from Hawaii, Kawakami won the 100 free (:47.65) before adding a victory in the 100 breast (:59.71).
- GW swept the top three places in both the 200 and 500 free. DH Hwang won the 500 free in 4:41.26 followed by Zach Hu and Ian Molloy, while Legge took the 200 free in 1:45.38 with Hu and Brendan Conley close behind.
- GW's divers shined at Howard with Peter Nachtwey (282.10), Nick Tomczyk (269.25) and Spencer Bystrom (225.00) taking the top three spots on the 1-meter board.
UP NEXT: GW travels to Charlotte, N.C., for the Queens University Fall Frenzy, which runs Nov. 22-24 at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
