Cho Wins at Fall Frenzy Invite

Senior swimmer claimed 100 back Saturday
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Andrew Cho landed an individual win in the 100-yard backstroke Saturday, highlighting GW men's swimming and diving's second day of racing at the Sheraton Le Meridien Fall Frenzy Invite hosted by Queens University.
The senior from California posted the best time during prelims and then backed it up in the final, winning with a season-best time of 48.56 seconds.
George Aspougalis (100 breast), Moritz Fath (400 IM) and Kaden Schwaiger (100 back) also swam in A finals on the day.
Those efforts helped the Colonials bump up a spot in the team standings to fifth out of 13 squads with one day of competition remaining.
HIGHLIGHTS
- A first-year from Greece, Aspougalis was runner-up in the 100 breast in 54.89 seconds, a time that ranks No. 4 on GW's all-time top 10. The Colonials also got points there from Youssef Ragab (14th, :57.82) and Tyler Kawakami (18th).
- Cho and Aspougalis teamed with Max Forstenhaeusler and Kawakami on a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:29.56. In the 800 free relay, Fath, Ragab, Kawakami and Josh Legge earned third in 6:44.05.
- Fath paced three Colonials in the 400 IM finals, qualifying for the A final and finishing eighth in 4:06.06. Legge swam in the B final (14th, 4:07.60), and DH Hwang (22nd) rounded out the group.
- In addition to Cho's excellence in the 100 back, Schwaiger finished eighth (:51.82), and James Torrez and Ryan Patterson were both in the B final where they tied for 15th (:52.28).
- Forstenhaeusler was the top Colonial in both the 100 fly and 200 free. The senior from Germany took 11th in the 100 fly (:49.88) before finishing 11th again in the 200 free (1:41.02)Â
- Kawakami (12th, 1:41.28), Oscar Madsen (29th) and Dylan Arzoni (32nd) were the other members of the Buff and Blue advancing in the 200 free, while Torrez (21st) and Arzoni (31st) racked up points in the 100 fly.
