Men's Swimming & Diving Wraps Fall Frenzy Invite

Cho and Aspougalis posted runner-up finishes Sunday
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Andrew Cho and George Aspougalis posted second-place finishes for GW men's swimming and diving on Sunday vs. a tough field at the Sheraton Le Meridien Fall Frenzy Invite hosted by Queens University.
Cho was runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.09, while Aspougalis duplicated the feat in the 200-yard breaststroke in 1:59.74.
DH Hwang (1,650 free), Moritz Fath (1,650 free) and Max Forstenhaeusler (100 free) also landed top-four finishes on the final day at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
Those efforts helped the Colonials close out the three-day meet in fifth place out of 13 teams with 1,651.5 points.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Cho narrowly missed his second backstroke win in as many days, finishing just three-hundredths of a second back of Queens University's Skyler Cook-Weeks. The senior from California was joined in the 200 back finals by Kaden Schwaiger (ninth, 1:50.98) and Ryan Patterson (14th, 1:51.99).
- Cho was also part of GW's fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay, combining with Moritz Fath, Youssef Ragab and Max Forstenhaeusler to finish in 3:01.64.
- In the 200 back, Aspougalis posted his second individual runner-up finish of the meet. The first-year from Greece was also second in the 100 breast on Saturday. Ragab finished 12th in the 200 breast in 2:05.51.
- GW showcased its distance quality with three swimmers in the top six in the 1,650 free. Hwang paced the group in third (15:43.85) with Fath taking fourth (15:48.94) and Josh Legge in sixth (15:55.00).
- Forstenhaeusler posted his top individual finish of the weekend, taking fourth in 44.95 seconds. Tyler Kawakami was 11th in the event with a time of 45.99 seconds.
- James Torrez led the Colonials in the 200 fly by taking 11th (1:52.82).

UP NEXT:Â A select group of swimmers will head to USA Swimming Winter Nationals on Dec. 4-7 in Atlanta. The next full-team competition comes after winter break on Jan. 18 when Georgetown visits for Senior Day at Smith Center Pool.
