Clifford Thompson was GW’s top finisher
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The George Washington golf team concluded its third tournament of the fall season on Tuesday afternoon with a 13th-place showing at the WVU Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational.
Junior Clifford Thompson was the top finisher for the Colonials, bouncing back from a nine-over par 81 in the first round with a 76 and 74 in the second and third rounds en route to a +15 total of 231. The Broederstroom, South Africa, native tied for 44th in a field of 81.
Host West Virginia took the team title with an even score of 864 to fend off Florida Atlantic by three strokes. Youngstown State's Kevin Scherr claimed the individual title with a 3-under 216.
