Adrian Castagnola was GW’s top finisher
BURLINGTON, NC – The GW golf team concluded its penultimate tournament of the fall season on Tuesday afternoon with a 14th-place finish at the Elon Phoenix Invitational.
Senior Adrian Castagnola was the top finisher for the Colonials, closing out the weekend with a four-under 71 in the third round en route to a -3 total of 210. The Woodlands, Texas, native tied for 19th in a field of 97.
Gardner-Webb took the team title with a 19-under total of 833 to fend off Morehead State by one stroke. The Colonials finished ahead of Longwood (866) and Atlantic 10 foe La Salle (875). Gardner-Webb's Jack Scruggs secured the individual title with a -19 total of 194.
GW has two weeks off before returning to action to close out its fall tournament schedule at the Hawaii Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational from Nov. 1-3.
