Colonials battle Saint Louis, but fall, 2-1
WASHINGTON – In the title game of the Atlantic 10 regular season championship, the George Washington women's soccer squad met its match against league-leading Saint Louis.
The Bilikens were the first to find the back of the net with a goal in the game's first stanza, but the Colonials responded in the second with a strike from Kelly Amador to even the score with 20 minutes to play. Despite having 10 scoring opportunities in the second half, GW could not break the Billikens back line as Saint Louis secured the regular season championship, 2-1, with a strike following a Colonial foul in the game's 83rd minute.
Despite the loss, GW earns its highest seed for the A-10 Championship since 2015 at No. 2. The Colonials will have to wait until the postponed Davidson/Fordham matchup tomorrow at 10 a.m. to see who they will host at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus next Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
