Women’s Soccer Plays Richmond to 1-1 Draw

RICHMOND, Va. – Behind Kate McGrath's 22nd-minute goal, the George Washington women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with Richmond on Sunday afternoon. The Buff & Blue move to 4-8-4 overall and 1-6-1 in Atlantic 10 matches this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 22nd Minute: McGrath broke the scoreless tie midway through the first half, connecting on a right-footed shot in the lower corner of the goal off an assist from Kalia Kau. McGrath now has five points on the season, while Kau tallies her second assist of the season to go along with two goals as well.
- 49th Minute: Richmond's Bridgette Bussiere knotted the match up for good early in the second stanza, scoring off an assist from Anna Garcia. The goal was Bussiere's second of 2025.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Both teams finished with an even 10 shots apiece, while the host Spiders registered a slight 4-3 edge in shots on target.
- First-year Jasmine Black made her second consecutive A-10 start, playing the entire 90 minutes and recording three saves.
- To go along with her goal, McGrath led GW's offense with four shots, putting two on target. Alana Beasley was responsible for GW's other shot on frame.
- Three cards were issued in the match, including Sophia Broz and Amelia Booth, who were both shown a yellow in the 77th minute. Richmond's Morgane Zinn was given a yellow in the 24th minute as well.
