The Colonials will also send sailors to the Danmark Trophy and Women’s Showcase
SETTING SAIL: A third consecutive weekend featuring a conference championship regatta awaits the GW sailing team as it heads to the MAISA Match Racing Championship at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. The Colonials will also send teams to the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard and the Women's Showcase at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
MAISA MATCH RACING CHAMPIONSHIP: The Colonials are looking to claim a top-two finish, which would qualify them for the ICSA Match Racing Championship for the first time in school history. Last season, GW finished fifth with a team that included Wade Wagner and Andrew Sheerin, both of whom will compete this weekend. New to GW's crew in this racing format are sophomore Tanner Chapko and first-year Cameron Feves.
DANMARK TROPHY: The coed regatta at US Coast Guard features a field of 20 with many of the top teams in the country included. Derek Poon-Tip and Mercedes McPhee will sail in A Division while Matt Logue and Michael Houllahan are slated for B Division. Marie Line and Sarah Hardee will serve as extras.
WOMEN'S SHOWCASE: Hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland, the Women's Showcase includes a 17-team interconference field. The Colonials will be represented by Riley Legault and Alexandra Fayer in A Division, and Aitana Mendiguren and Sarah Noyes in B Division with Marie Line and Sarah Hardee on hand as extras.
