SCHEDULE ALERT: The weekend schedule has been altered due to the forecast on Sunday. The teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team returns to Atlantic 10 conference play this weekend when it welcomes Richmond to Tucker Field at Barcroft Park for a three-game series. First pitch in Friday's opener is set for 3 p.m.
HECK OF A RUN: Despite the setback, GW still boasts a 12-2 record over its last 14 games. The Colonials sit at 19-13 overall and are just one win away from 20 for the season. Last season, it took the Colonials until April 26 to notch their 20th win of the season.
ON A ROLL: Three-time reigning A-10 Player of the Week Isaiah Pasteur enters the weekend on a 20-game hit streak, the second longest in program history. He has been on fire at the plate during the stretch, batting .382 with six home runs, six doubles, three triples, 22 RBI, 26 runs and seven stolen bases.
For the season, he leads the A-10 in home runs (9), runs (36), hits (46), total bases (88) and slugging percentage (.647). His .338 average ranks second on the team, and he has also pitched to a 1.80 ERA over six appearances on the mound.
ON THE MARK: Senior Mark Osis boasts GW's top batting average, hitting a smooth .355 on the season, which ranks fourth overall in the A-10. He also leads the Colonials with 36 RBI (2nd in A-10), as well as 15 multiple-hit games.
HOT HITTING: Five of GW's regular starting nine are hitting .300 or better on the season - Osis (.355), Pasteur (.338), Steven Barmakian (.331), Metz (.324) and D'Alessandro (.314). The quintet is a big reason the Colonials lead the Atlantic 10 in total hits (326) and team batting average (.294) and total runs. GW also paces the conference in scoring (6.8 runs/gm) and slugging percentage (.436).
FLAME THROWER: Saturday starting pitcher Elliott Raimo fanned a career-high 12 batters over 8.2 shutout innings in last weekend's start against NCCU to earn Co-Pitcher of the Week honors from the Atlantic 10. For the season, he has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.17 (43:6), which ranks fourth in the A-10 and amongst the top 30 in the nation.
SERIES HISTORY: Richmond leads the all-time series, 67-48, but the Colonials have gotten the better of the Spiders in recent history. GW won two of three last season and is 6-1 over the last seven games.
