Baseball Looks to Extend Streak vs. Towson on Wednesday

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team looks to extend its five-game winning streak and close the current homestand on a winning note when it hosts Towson on Wednesday afternoon at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials closed out a sweep of La Salle with an 8-2 win on Sunday to begin Atlantic 10 play with a perfect 3-0 weekend.
THE PLAYER, PASTEUR: Senior Isaiah Pasteur had a big weekend at the plate and on the mound to help the Colonials past La Salle and in turn was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday. In three games he batted .333 with with three home runs, six RBI, six runs and two walks. On the mound, he earned the save in Saturday's win with four innings of one-run relief.
STREAKING: In addition to the team's overall win streak, two players have substantial streaks of their own still rolling as the Colonials enter Wednesday's game.
Pasteur has hit safely in 11 consecutive games dating back to March 7. He is batting .289 (13-for-45) during the stretch with three home runs, eight RBI, two triples, 12 runs and two stolen bases.
Freshman Colin Brophy has also reached base safely in the last 11 games and sports a .372 on-base percentage since March 7 while batting .297 (11-for-37).
POWER SURGE: GW ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with 17 home runs on the season and also holds top-five rankings in doubles (5th, 35) and triples (5th, 5). Pasteur leads the conference with his six round trippers while senior Mark Osis (3 HR), Matt Coesntino (2 HR) and Robbie Metz (2 HR) have each gone deep multiple times.
Osis paces the conference with eight doubles on the season while Pasteur is tops with three triples.
SERIES HISTORY: GW and Towson split the series last season with each team winning on its home field. The Colonials lead the all-time series 37-9-2.
