Baseball Opens Homestand with Two Midweek Games

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team will open a seven-game homestand with two midweek games, including the home opener on Tuesday afternoon against Georgetown, at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. First pitch against the Hoyas is set for 2:30 p.m.
SENIORS START HOT: Two senior position players are off to a hot start at the plate through the first six games of the season to lead the Colonials' offense. Outfielder Mark Osis leads all players with a .400 batting average (10-for-25) across six games, including one double, one home run and three RBIs. He has also logged four multiple-hit games across the first six contests. Second baseman Robbie Metz is also hot to begin the season, hitting .318 (7-for-22) with three RBIs, a stolen base and a walk.
ANOTHER POSITION: Senior Isaiah Pasteur will debut at another position on the diamond on Tuesday when he toes the rubber as the Colonials' starting pitcher. It will mark the third position he has played in the young season after seeing time at third base and left field over the first six games.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas are winless so far in 2018 after being swept on the road at Davidson over the weekend. Georgetown has been outscored by a 59-16 margin in its first six games of the season.
SERIES HISTORY: Georgetown won both meetings last season, but the Colonials still lead the all-time series, 91-43-1.
SCOUTING MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE: The Hawks face La Salle on Tuesday afternoon at home before traveling to The Tuck for Wednesday's game (2:30 p.m.). Maryland Eastern Shore had the first six games of its season cancelled by inclement weather and made its season debut over the weekend, suffering a three-game sweep against Winthrop.
SERIES HISTORY: GW leads the all-time series, 13-4, after last season's 10-4 win at Tucker Field.
