Colonials to host 32 games at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park
FULL SCHEDULE
WASHINGTON – GW baseball head coach Gregg Ritchie announced the team's 2019 schedule on Friday, headlined by a home-heavy slate in February and March.
GW will make good use of its brand-new Fassnacht Clubhouse, playing 23 of its first 28 games at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park, and hosting 32 games at the Arlington, Va. complex overall. The home schedule features three homestands of at least seven games: Feb. 22 – March 3 (7 games), March 8-19 (9 games) and March 22-31 (7 games).
After opening the season with a three-game series at Tulane in New Orleans from Feb. 15-17, GW will host six straight weekend series. St. Peter's (Feb. 22-24), Manhattan (March 1-3), UMass-Lowell (March 8-10) and Iona (March 15-17) all visit the Tuck for three-game sets.
The Colonials will host four conference series yet again in 2019, entertaining Rhode Island (March 22-24), Saint Joseph's (March 29-31), Davidson (April 19-21) and St. Bonaventure (May 10-12). GW will travel for three-game sets at George Mason (April 5-7), Massachusetts (April 12-14), VCU (April 26-28) and Richmond (May 3-5).
In the mid-week, the Buff and Blue will participate in home-and-home series with local rivals Georgetown (Feb. 27/April 24), Delaware State (March 6/March 19), Towson (March 12/April 3), Coppin State (March 20/May 1), UMBC (March 26/April 9) and William & Mary (April 10/April 17).
The Colonials also host Maryland-Eastern Shore (March 13) and Penn (April 30) as part of the non-conference slate. The regular season wraps up with a three-game series at West Virginia (May 16-18).
The A-10 tournament is set to be played from May 22-26 in Bronx, N.Y., hosted by Fordham. Last season, GW became the first No. 7 seed to ever reach the third day of the tournament. The Colonials have won 30-plus games in back-to-back seasons and have advanced to the conference tournament in four straight campaigns.
