WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team has clinched its third consecutive appearance in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship.
The Colonials will enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed (14-10) and will open play against No. 5 seed and host Saint Louis (12-10) on Wednesday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Billiken Sports Complex in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Also making the field are No. 1 seed VCU (19-5), No. 2 Rhode Island (17-6), No. 3 St. Bonaventure (15-8), No. 6 Davidson (13-11) and No. 7 George Mason (13-11).
The winner of the GW-Saint Louis game will advance to play No. 1 seed VCU on Thursday at 2:30 p.m ET. The two lowest-seeded losers from the first three games on Wednesday will play an elimination game on Wednesday evening at 9:30 p.m. ET.
GW and Saint Louis did not meet this season. The Billikens swept the Colonials during last year's regular season but GW exacted revenge by winning an elimination game in the A-10 Championship.
The Atlantic 10 Championship is a seven-team, double-elimination tournament with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
GW is seeking its fifth Atlantic 10 Championship after winning league titles in 1979, 1989, 1992 and 2002.
This marks the fourth postseason trip for the Colonials in five seasons under the direction of head coach Gregg Ritchie.
