WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball squad visits Coppin State on Wednesday for a mid-week doubleheader in Baltimore. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the games were moved to Wednesday due to inclement weather in the area.
The Colonials (14-16) hit the road after playing 13-consecutive games at the GW Softball Field. GW took one game from Massachusetts in a three-game set over the weekend, playing as the visiting team due to a location change.
Junior Sarah Costlow has been a force for the Colonials in the circle, posting a staff-best 2.12 ERA with 10 complete games on her resume. The righty has held opposing hitters to a .234 average this season and became the program's all-time career wins leader on Saturday with her 37th victory.
Freshman Jenna Cone leads the Buff and Blue with a school-record 13 home runs on the season, leading the squad with 37 RBI and ranking second with a .354 average. Rookie Jessica Linquist owns a team-best .368 average on the season, as six Colonials continue to bat over .300.
Senior Megan Linn (.333) is just one hit away from setting a new program record for career hits. She is currently tied with Victoria Valos ('15) with 206 hits.
Coppin State (3-27) most recently dropped a three-game series to Delaware State over the weekend. Three Eagles are batting over .300 on the season. Coppin State has used seven different players in the circle this season and has a staff ERA of 9.99.
First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
