GW softball was taken down in Sunday's series finale at Dayton, 5-4, resulting in a 2-1 series win for the Flyers. It's the first A-10 series loss of the season for GW as the Revolutionaries dropped to 14-12 (5-4 A-10).

An early 4-1 edge looked promising for GW. Sydney Hogue continued her red-hot hitting with RBI singles in both the first and second innings, while Cece Smith drove in two on a single in the second.

A two-run home run for the Flyers in the third, followed by a solo homer in the fourth, tied the game at 4-4 into the late innings. GW had its chances, loading the bases in the fifth and getting runners to third in the sixth and seventh, but the Revolutionaries couldn't break the tie. In the last of the seventh, Dayton's Kirnan Bailey led off the inning with a single, before stealing second and advancing to third on a groundout, eventually scoring on a walk-off sac fly.

GW drew a season-high 11 walks in the contest. Ashley Corpuz, Smith and Hogue each reached safely four times, as Corpuz drew four walks, Smith had one hit and three walks, and Hogue had two hits, a walk and one hit-by-pitch.

The Revolutionaries return home to host Morgan State on Wednesday (3:00 p.m.), before traveling to Fordham for its next A-10 series on Saturday and Sunday.
