Lacrosse Downed By Navy, 16-5

WASHINGTON â€" The George Washington lacrosse team was defeated by Navy, 16-5, on Wednesday afternoon at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Junior Jocelyn Donohue paced the Colonials with a pair of goals, while freshman Aidan Cage and seniors Cassidy Shollenberger and Baliey Forcier scored one apiece.
The Midshipmen (4-1) got four goals apiece from Morgan Young and Meg O'Donnell and three from Jenna Collins.
Navy scored two early goals to open the game, before Donohue took a pass from Caroline Kiernan and converted it to put the Colonials on the board at the 23:10 mark. The Midshipmen responded with an 8-0 run to build a 10-1 lead. Forcier applied pressure with 41 seconds left in the first to end the half at 10-2.
After the intermission, Navy scored a quick goal before Shollenberger fired back with an unassisted goal of her own. The Midshipmen continued to apply pressure to take a 15-3 lead with 16:40 to play. GW responded with a goal from Aidan Cage and a second goal from Donohue to finish out the game 16-5.
In the cage, Adele Wise recorded six saves in 46:59 while Erin Long made two saves in 12:51.
The Colonials return to action on Saturday, March 11 when Robert Morris visits the GW Lacrosse Field for a 1 p.m. tilt.
