WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball team is set for four games over the weekend at the UNC Greensboro Invitational beginning on Saturday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
The Colonials (2-3) will play Longwood and host UNCG twice each in the second weekend of 2017 competition.
GW opened the season at the D9 Orange Blossom Invitational last weekend, tallying victories over Bethune Cookman and Delaware.
Rookie Elena Shelepak posted a stellar career debut, matching junior Alana Anderson for a team-high seven hits in five games. Junior Rochelle Draper came up big at the plate, knocking in five runs on the weekend as the Colonials pounded out 45 hits and 26 runs in the tournament.
Freshman Kaitlin Buff notched her first career victory in the circle, and junior Sarah Costlow grabbed her first win of the season; both in complete game efforts.
Host UNCG (5-4) has won four of its last five contests, while Longwood (2-7) claimed its first victories last weekend.
