GW Baseball's Ritchie Named to USA Baseball NTDP Staff

DURHAM, N.C. - George Washington baseball head coach Gregg Ritchie will serve on the coaching staff for the 2016 USA Baseball 17-and-under National Team Development Program this summer.
The National Team Development Program (NTDP) offers athletes an opportunity to connect with USA Baseball staff to better prepare for future national team experience. The program includes skill development sessions, off-field education seminars and intrasquad Stars vs. Stripes games to assist in the development of athletes.
Ritchie will serve on the Stars staff under former GW head coach and current Wake Forest skipper Tom Walter. Also on the staff will be MLB veteran Gerald Laird along with St. Louis Cardinals scout Ricky Meinhold.
The coaches and evaluators are made up of former professional players, respected collegiate and high school coaches and professional scouts. The 2016 17U NTDP Week will take place in Chicago, Illinois, from July 18-22.
Walter has been head coach at Wake Forest since 2009 following an eight-year tenure as head coach at George Washington. He is the Colonials' all-time winningest head coach with a 275 victories and led the Colonials to the 2002 Atlantic 10 Championship, an appearance at NCAA Regionals and a school-record 42 victories. At Wake Forest he has led the Demon Deacons to four straight winning seasons and has seen 12 student-athletes get drafted over the past four years.
