PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- After helping lead GW to a Postseason NIT Championship two weeks ago, Patricio Garino and Kevin Larsen are set to compete in another prestigious tournament.
The duo has been invited to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which showcases the nation's top seniors to scouts from the NBA and international leagues. The 64th edition of the PIT gets underway on Wednesday and concludes Saturday, though Garino and Larsen's first games are on Thursday, and can be seen via WatchESPN.
Garino, a second team All-A-10 selection and member of the All-Defensive Team for the third straight year, started all 38 games for the Colonials this past season. The Argentine averaged a career-best 14.1 points per game while shooting a team-best .430 from three-point range, and led the A-10 in that category during the regular season.
Larsen also started all 38 games and leaves GW as the all-time leader in career games played (136) while he is one of just seven players in school history with 1,000 points and 900 rebounds. He was at his best in the run to the NIT title, averaging 15.8 points per game. The native of Copenhagen, Denmark, also ranked second in the A-10 with 13 double-doubles.
Larsen's team in the PIT, K&D Rounds, opens play at 7 p.m. Thursday while Garino's Portsmouth Sports Club follows at 9 p.m. For the full schedule and list of players competing in the tournament, click here.
