GW Baseball Visits Charleston Southern for Three-Game Set

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team will begin a stretch of six of its next seven games on the road with a three-game series at Charleston Southern this weekend at Joe Riley Park.
HEATING UP: GW has won four of its last six games with a blowout win over Maryland 19-10, taking two of three from Monmouth and most recently topping Yale, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Colonials have outscored the opposition 47-31 across the six-game stretch. GW currently ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and xxth in the nation with a .308 team batting average.
WEEKEND WARRIORS: The senior duo of Bobby LeWarne and Jacob Williams are each off to great starts to their senior campaigns.
LeWarne is 2-0 in four starts with a 4.05 ERA. He has struck out a team-best 18 batters and is limiting the opposition to a .235 batting average.
Williams also boasts a 2-0 record with a 3.21 ERA. He has 16 strikeouts and yielded just six walks in 28 innings of work.
Junior Shane Sweeney will make his first weekend start of the season this weekend. In five appearances this season, including two midweek starts, he is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA with 15 strikeouts and six walks.
POWER SURGE: Junior shortstop Kevin Mahala is the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week. He leads the Colonials with 21 RBIs and has driven in multiple runs in a team-best five games this season. His 11 doubles also lead the Atlantic 10 and rank xx in the nation. He is also batting at a .342 clip with two home runs.
STREAKING SELBY: Junior Andrew Selby has reached base safely in all 17 games this season. He ranks second on the team with a .368 batting average and four doubles, one triple and six RBIs. Last season, he reached base safely in 27 consecutive games.
