BALTIMORE -- The George Washington lacrosse team dropped a 13-3 decision to UMBC on Saturday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.
Senior Julia Lawson, junior Shea Cassidy and sophomore Amy Cunningham each recorded goals for the Colonials. Senior Becca Taub picked up a team-high two ground balls and sophomore Jocelyn Donohue won a pair of draw controls.
UMBC (3-1) held an 8-0 halftime lead and extended it to 11-0 before Lawson put GW on the board at the 14:53 mark of the second half, which sparked a 3-1 Colonials run that made it 12-3 with 5:17 remaining, but the Retrievers scored the final goal for the 13-3 final.
Sophomore goalkeeper Adele Wise recorded a career-high 10 saves in 43:58 between the pipes, and junior Erin Long stopped two shots in the final 16:02 of action.
